A little about me...

You’re here because you want to know how I tick. You want to make sure I’m the right fit for you. Because lets face it, going to first sessions with a psychologist when the fit isn’t right is just so damned exhausting.

So here goes.

You’ll quickly learn that I am always my authentic self, a little rough around the edges, and very down to earth. But therapy is not about me.

You don’t need to know that I’ve been drowned by and then recovered from PTSD. You don’t need to know that I have the world’s cutest dog. Or that I love rummaging at vintage markets.

But you do need to know how I, as a professional therapy services provider, see your therapy process….

My approach

I’ll always bring my authentic self to your sessions, so that you will be moved to always bring yours.

I’ll call a spade a spade, and always share with you what I’m thinking, what doesn’t make sense yet, and most importantly, I’ll tell you when something isn’t working.

I’ll work alongside you to help make sense of why you have your symptoms, and why now.

Together we’ll look at events that have happened across your life, to understand how these have shaped and reinforced your coping style and sense of self.

You will begin to see that your symptoms are the result of past conditioning and old coping mechanisms that were once likely to have been effective but are now working against you and bringing you distress.

Together, we’ll work to understand the reasons for your symptoms (and there always is one), and help you meet that valid human need in another, more adaptive, and less stressful way while getting professional therapy services near you.

I’ll coach you on how to regulate your emotional states, while thinking, feeling, and remembering, to help you take charge of your biology and reduce distress.

More often than not, I’ll bring EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) into your treatment, to neurologically change the way your brain has encoded past distressing experiences, to bring you relief from old patterns of thinking, feeling, and reacting.
